Todd Alexander

Todd Alexander is an Atlanta artist, armed with imagery, technique, talent and emotion inspired by all walks of life.  Born into a family of artists the young Todd experimented with watercolor and oil mediums, as well as hand-thrown pottery.  He then pursued scientific illustration at the University of Georgia, working afterward to produce anatomically driven creations for the medical industry.  Over the years Todd's creativity has evolved as he re-entered the studio, picking up his familiar paints and exploring alternative ways to express himself and his subjects.

Today, balance is the key for Todd as he juggles his family responsibility with his passion and drive for creating.  Todd is a friend to everyone, and a confidant to many.  His sense of humanity is inspiring and shows through his work.  Through charcoal, oils and even spray paint Todd allows no boundaries.  For him, it's not about the finished product as much as the journey - it is truly the "adventure of invention".  His most recent productions evoke the state of balance towards which he strives, using a mixed media of photography and other elements to align reality with interpretation of dimension.  Layers of wax and paint allow for the a new, sometimes unexpected, lens for the viewer to look through and more actively participate with the image.

The works found herein utilize early Alexander family photos, historical landmark images, and other photography by Todd to distill universal emotions.  Subjects take the viewer to different places and times - they invite curiosity and contemplation.  Collectively they deliver new levels of validation and self-awareness.
