  Devin Balara is a multidisciplinary artist based in New Orleans. Her artistic practice is rooted in the geological concept of “deep time.” She embraces an amateur’s grasp of earth processes, which she channels into works in stained glass, steel, and mosaic.
  
  Her research zooms out billions of years into the past to examine rock structures and simultaneously zooms in on fledgling historical understandings of the cosmos that were once held as truth. Grounded in contemporary geological research and medieval diagrams of the cosmos, her mixed media works read first as playful line drawings, with negative spaces occupied by strategic color, found materials, and textures.
  
  Balara sees her work as a collaboration with the inherent properties of the earth materials she works with. Glass, steel, rust, rocks, and seashells allow for a continual process of hand-hewn inquiry. Her practice resonates with the scientist’s desire to be wrong: real inquiry bypasses the ego to make wild leaps, and possesses a readiness and a craving to have one’s views shaken. As a result, her work lives in the realm of speculation, leaning into the humor of misunderstanding and mirroring the instability and precarity of the myths of solid ground.

• ︎ Jack Kenna

  
  Jack Kenna’s artistic practice extends fluidly across painting and sculpture, often incorporating found images, objects, and text. Drawing partially from his material surroundings, his compositions are highly considered and incorporate unconventional juxtapositions, uncanny backgrounds and close-up cropping of objects of subjective and sentimental value. Kenna also makes great use of the extensive cache of online imagery to develop a vocabulary of motifs that are constantly appearing, morphing, and reappearing in his practice. Kenna's works incorporate a broad range of techniques allowing him to use varied methods of representation. As a young artist, he is comfortable merging imagery from the history of still life painting with the archive of cell phone photography, allowing him to create works that convey the paradoxes inherent in the contemporary experience.

• ︎ Paloma Wall

  
  
  Paloma Wall graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Sculpture + Extended Media, minoring in Painting and Printmaking in 2011, and currently lives and works in Richmond, Virginia. Wall has shown her work across the region including; 4W- Space (Los Angeles, CA), Elephant Gallery (Nashville, TN), Reynolds Gallery(Richmond, VA), and during Capital One’s NCECCA 2024 (Richmond, VA). Her works are also held in many private collections.
