Mary Long is known for utilizing the technique of encaustic wax collage.  Her abstract works on both board and paper draw inspiration from many American experiences, from the aerial view of land and cityscapes to the quilt patchwork of rural farms and factories from her hometown of Canton.  'It is a juxtaposition of abandoned industrial grayness against expanses of happy saturated colors that inspires my work to this day', she says.

Mary Long was born and raised in Ohio and currently lives and works in Memphis, Tennessee.  Her work has been exhibited in many places and resides in public and private collections across the country.
